Application Review Timelines:
- Applications are welcome year-round; however, reviews are processed in seasonal batches based on course planning and mentor capacity rather than immediately upon receipt.
- Northern Hemisphere Off-Season: Selected candidates are typically contacted for application approval between mid-September and late October during our seasonal planning.
- Late-Season Submissions (Canada or ICP): Applications submitted near the end of an operating season may be deferred, and candidates asked to reapply closer to the start of the next active season.
Application Process:
Step 1 – Submission & Review: Submit a complete Apprenticeship Application Package to the CASI Director of Education and Programs for review by the CASI team. Your application should include this completed Application Form and your CASI Mentor Evaluator Endorsement.
Step 2 – Next Steps & Candidate Preparation:
- Selected candidates must register to the appropriate on-snow Evaluator Trainings.
- Complete the appropriate mandatory online evaluator update before attending on-snow training.
- Indicate your rookie availability through the wishlist and coordinate your first Rookie course assignment with the relevant CASI staff. Once approved, you will gain access to the wishlist corresponding to your new Rookie Evaluator status.
Step 3 –Attend required on-snow training with your development goals in focus:
Standard Progression: You are expected to attend on-snow evaluator training during the current season in which you begin the apprenticeship process.
During-the-Season Applicants & Direct Approval: If you apply as a during-the-season applicant, CASI may approve you directly to start the apprenticeship program and permit you to complete the required on-snow training during the following season.
Step 4 – Apprenticeship & Course Coordination:
Complete the required number of rookie courses (one, two, three, or more) based on your personal development goals and the certification level of the course.
IMPORTANT - Rookie Course Completion & Progression
*Level 2, Park 1 & 2, Carving, and Big Mountain: Complete rookie course assignments tailored to your individual development and readiness.
*Level 3 & 4: The Level 3 and Level 4 apprenticeship processes involve multiple modules and typically take place over an extended timeframe. The ideal progression begins by rookieing a set of exam modules first. This allows you to gain firsthand insight into common candidate faults, difficulties, strengths, and weaknesses prior to rookieing training modules.
*Note on Required Courses & Individual Pathways: The number of required rookie courses varies per candidate, taking into account your evaluator career stage, industry experience, and background in teaching, coaching, or pedagogy. We manage evaluator development through an open, conversational approach rather than a rigid formula. When we sign off on a rookie, our priority is to ensure you feel 100% ready, confident, and equipped to lead CASI courses independently and collaborate seamlessly within our teams.
